MEC Motlhabane brings services closer to Tweelaagte communities by opening a vehicle registering authority
Motorists in the area of Tweelaagte and the neighbouring villages in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality will no longer have to travel long distances to access services such as registering their motor vehicles and renewing their license disc. This follows the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management's efforts to bring services closer to the communities. The opening of the Tweelaagte motor vehicle registration and driving license testing centre came as a response to the increasing demand for an establishment of such services in the area to ensure that the Province recoup the potential revenue lost to the Limpopo province in particular. "These borderline areas which don't have these services risks registering of North West vehicles in neighbouring provinces. This is loss of tax, income generation and revenue for the province. Our economy and GDP can only be viable and be on the rise if we protects rands and cents of our communities and keeping it within our borders", argues the MEC. The authority will ensure effective and efficient renewal of motor vehicle licenses, registration of new vehicles, de-registration of stolen and recovered vehicles or permanently unfit for use, notifications to change in respect of vehicles particulars and re-registration of stolen and recovered vehicles.
